Is made by a variety of biopolymer material with a silk appearance that keeps the outstanding PLA 3D printing features such as non-irritating odour, layer adhesion, UV resistance, etc. The best thing about PLA Silk Filament is that it looks so dazzling straight from the printer that it doesn't need any painting. Very easy to print due the base elements being PLA.
Currently available in Silver and Black but based on customer feedback we will be expanding our colour range.
Having a base of PLA, PLA SILK FILAMENT is very easy to use with a very rewarding shiny finish. Feeling and looking like silk this filament is great for exhibition projects.
Clean HeatbedUse a smooth PEI Sheet. Depending how careful you are to not touch the smooth sheet you may have to first clean the smooth sheet thoroughly with dish soap and warm water. Wipe it down with paper towel. Then to ensure a complete clean, spray the sheet with 90% IPA and wipe vigorously with a fresh piece of paper towel. Return the sheet to the heatbed making sure you do not touch the printing surface. Do not use cleaning wipes as they may leave residual chemical on the sheet which will reduce adhesion.
General Printing of PLA SILKBeing made from a PLA base means the printing characteristics are similar. The main difference is you may have to run the bed and extrusion temps a fraction higher. While not common, if you experience stringing or hairy prints then follow the retraction settings on the PLA product page.
Under Extrusion (Gaps between layers)Is when your extruder is not pushing through the right amount of filament. To fix this (provided it is not caused by a partial block) is to increase the extrusion multiplier or flow rate. In PrusaSlicer under 'Filament Settings'. Information about how to adjust the extrusion multipler can be found
here. If you are finding under extrusion with other filament types we recommend invesitgating more regarding a potential partial blog and follow the instructions details
here.
